Plate Pressure Reactor

Open clamshell pressure reactor showing 48 GC vials in an array

The plate pressure reactor is a screening reactor plate from V&P Scientific. It holds 48 GC vials at a time and can be pressurized up to 300 PSIG. The reactor fits into a SLAS footprint and thus can be heated and agitated similar to other heating blocks. Reactions share a common headspace, so reaction “crosstalk” can occur. Crosstalk is a phenomenon where volatile reagents and solvents diffuse through a shared headspace into other reactions. Minimizing reaction temperature and using higher boiling point reagents or solvents when possible can mitigate these effects. Some have found that using pre-slit caps on the GC vials can limit crosstalk while still allowing pressurization.
